Knit & Purl

Garter
The easiest knitted stitch there is, it consists of knitted stitches only. This is a great starter stitch for those learning to knit.
Details

Stockinette
This is the most popular knitted stitch, and is incorporated into almost every knitting pattern in some form. It is especially popular for sweaters and scarves, and it is the jumping off point for most knitted lace.

Checked Flag
This endearing stitch, is very simple to do, but looks great in shawls, scarves or summer sweaters. It is cast on any multiple of 9 stitches plus two.

Seed Stitch
Sometimes used as an edging stitch even though it has little stretch.

Linen Stitch
This is a very dense stitch and uses more yardage than the stockintette stitch. Make sure to keep your tension even when creating this stitch as it is easy to pull it in too tight.
